Knights, Louden Beach and Real life…

I’ve spent the last year working full time freelance writing for clients.  I’ve been so busy writing for others I stopped writing for myself.  I just spent my first week writing full time for myself again and it felt fantastic!  I love having full creative freedom again.

In addition I’ve been struggling living with chronic staph infection and needing surgery but no way to afford said surgery.  Last week I received STUNNING news someone has donated the funds for me to have the surgery ASAP.  That means I may spend 6-8 weeks in the very near future out of pocket.  I will be asking a close friend to at least continue posting my Tuesday blog posts and once a month newsletter until I am back on my feet.

KNIGHT SERIES-

YES, at least one more book is planned. At this moment I’m not sure when that will happen. As I get back into writing full time I will be developing a new writing and publishing schedule.  I hope to have some answers by the end of August on timelines of publishing.  The fourth book was slated originally to be Justin’s story but Justin hasn’t said much to me lately.  He needs to start talking for the story to happen.  🙂

LOUDEN BEACH SERIES-

Book 1- Losing Mia

This book was released in May 2017 and part of a fun series that originated as a story on Wattpad.  This published version is been editing and rewritten with new content to improve the story while keeping the original characters.

Book 2- Finding Ryder

Last week as I sat down at my laptop and begin typing this story was the one speaking to me.  It was rewritten and prepared for the editor.  The cover is ready to go and I need to design some teasers and it will be published near Sept. 23, 2017.  This is my last planned release for 2017.

Housekeeping:

Be sure to sign up for my Monthly newsletter, it will arrive in your inbox the first Tuesday of every month. Each Tuesday of the month I will post a new blog here and via the newsletter list.  So until next week…Keep reading!!!

excerpt

My body begins to tremble.  Not just a little but a lot.  Tears begin forming in my eyes.

“You’re telling me that my brother and fiancée were in the basement when it exploded?” I barely whisper the words but all those around me hear me.  I can tell by the eyes shifting away from me that no one wants to be the one to tell me.

“Answer me! Damn it someone just answer me!”

Panic begins clawing at my chest.  It’s been a few years since I had a full blown panic attack but I recognize the symptoms immediately.  My hand clutches my chest at it tightens.  My breathing becomes more rapid and shallow.

“Kat…” I hear Luke call me name but it’s as if he is miles away from me not standing right beside me. I feel arms wrap around me.

“Yes Mr. Knight and Mr. Roberts were in the basement when it exploded.”

Those words are the last I hear before my world pitches into a black abyss.

Meet The Author

Mari has been writing as far back as she can remember. She spent most of her teen years writing short stories for her friends, it was a hobby for her even though she was published in the school newspaper.

She met and married her very own Alpha male 21 years ago and they have a 20 year old daughter, and two sons ages 17 and 16. They have 3 dogs and a cat. There is never a dull moment around the house. They live on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Alabama and are blessed to have a home on the river and to have the beach just 20 minutes away.

Over the years she wrote a few short stories in between raising babies but it wasn’t until 2012 she decided she needed to pursue her dream of writing a full novel. It took a while but in January of 2014 her debut novel was self-published. There is always a story in her head and characters talking to her. She enjoys being able to share her characters with others.

April Month End

April Month End

Beyond the Edge is back from all Betas.  I’m excited by the response from the Betas.  I think Kat and Cole’s story just improves with each book.  In addition  the secondary characters are chomping to tell their stories as well.  I am re structuring my plans for this series.  I originally plotted it to go a certain way but as I have learned the characters have a way of taking over.  All full length novels in the series will be about Kat and Cole but there will be novellas featuring many of the other characters you love. I am still aiming for a June 2016 release for Beyond the Edge.

I want to give a special shout out to some readers:

Veronica G.  You have been with me for a long time now and every day I come on to Facebook and see where you have tagged me promoting me and my work on a blog.  Thank you for your efforts.  You are appreciated more than you realize.

Tara D. you have just come on board but your willingness to help promote my books on social media is already making a huge impact.  Even if its to my peace of mind more than anything.  I can’t tell you enough how much this means to me.  I look forward to working with you.

Don’t forget to follow me on social media so you don’t miss out on anything.

Katarina “Kat” Roberts

The Knight Series was born because I grew up reading the Santanglo Series Jackie Collins wrote.  Lucky Santanglo was my hero.  I wanted to be her when I grew up.  Instead I was inspired by her.  Add in the gangster/mafia/mobster movies I grew up watching with my dad and my fascination with organized crime grew.  I love reading and watching documentaries of real life organized crime families.

I noticed in my love of reading all things romance that organized crime stories were few and far between so I was like why not give it a try for my second novel.  Having no clue a whole series would be born.

Book 1- On the Edge -Published June 2014

Book 2- Over the Edge -Published June 2015

Book 3- Beyond the Edge- Coming June 2016

Book 4-Outside the Edge- Coming June 2017

Book 5- TBA

Book 6- TBA

Now let’s talk about Katarina Roberts. aka Kat.

I think most readers either LOVE her or HATE her.  Yes she is immature and badass and emotionally stunted but its because she had to be…she told me her life story and she is damaged.  Damaged in a way that makes her the character you love or hate.  Her badass side comes from a need to protect herself and over compensate for the areas she feels she is lacking.  In On the Edge you get the shallow immature Kat. In over the Edge you get a Kat who is still learning and growing.  but I think Beyond the Edge will be the book that makes everyone whether you love or hate Kat be like  “Oh I get it now.  It makes sense”  that’s my clue to some of the storyline…lol

I want readers to understand that the characters are who they are and will grow as the series continues.  It’s frustrating to have a character like Kat one moment you love her the next you want to  punch her.  But she is who she is.  I hope that readers will follow the series as she grows. Don’t give up on her.  Think of her as a little girl who you watch grow up.  You won’t like every choice she makes or how she acts but in the end you can say “Oh wow she has changed over the years”
